" The joy of music is that it can go beyond words...
which are too precise.
Music expresses what there is in the soul."
Oliver Messiaen
" They who sing, pray twice."
Music has always been an intregral part of the corporate
worship at Ascension. From a men and boy's choir in 1875 to our present-day adult parish choir, music has provided solemnity, beauty, joy and enthusiasm to our corporate worship.
The mission of our parish choir is to serve as leader,
supporter and instructor of the congregation in the songs of the people and in the spoken and sung parts of the litury.
Another goal of our choir is to provide rite enhancing
elements which, even though beyond the abilities of the congregation, serve to highlight, broaden and expand the worship experience without discouraging the singing of people.
Realizing that we are a diverse society, we strive for an eclectic selection of music from the classics to scripturally appropriate modern selections.
The Lord has done marvelous things here at Ascension.
We have been truly blessed with talented singers and musicians. Join us as we praise Him with new songs and old.
